Prof. Serdar ERDINE,MD,FIPP

 Prof. Serdar Erdine was born in Turkey. After graduating from Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, he became an assistant in the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation at Istanbul Medical Faculty. At the age of 31, he received the title of Associate Professor and returned to Istanbul Faculty of Medicine and established Turkey's first pain unit. He received the title of Professor at the age of 37.

He founded and became the head of the first Algology Department of our country in 1991. He continued this duty between 1991 and 2012. He received the title of Specialist in Algology in 2012. He still continues his studies in Istanbul Pain Center. In 1987, he was among the founders of the Turkish Society of Algology. From 1991 to 2012, he was the President of the Society. During this period, he organized 13 National Pain Congress and regional meetings in many parts of Turkey. He assumed the editorship of Ağrı Magazine, which started its publication life in 1989, and continued until 2012.

He established the Turkish Societyl of Regional Anesthesia in 1993 and  was the President  for three terms in 1993-1995, 1999-2003.

He took part in the board of directors of the European Regional Anesthesia Association ESRA for 10 years from 1990 until 2000. It enabled Turkey to become a member of ESRA, and in September 1999, although it was the year of the earthquake in Turkey  the European Regional Anesthesia Congress convened in Istanbul with 1400 participants.

 In 1993, European Pain Federation EFIC was established. Turkey was not accepted as a member of this organization at the beginning. At the end of his hard efforts, he made Turkey a member of the European Pain Federation and took place in the board of directors as  the Treasurer in the first board election held in 1996.

 He served as the Secretary General in the European Pain Federation between 1999-2002. He was elected as the President Elect in served on the Executive Board  of the organization for a total of 15 years as the President –Elect between 2002-2005 , the President of the European Pain Federation in  2005-2008  and the Past  President  in  2008-2011 period. During the 2005-2008 term as the President, the European Pain Congress convened in Istanbul with the participation of 4000 people in 2006.

The World Institute of Pain was founded in 1993 by Prithvi Raj, David Niv, Serdar Erdine, Ricardo Ruiz Lopez and Gabor Racz. This organization has now become one of the three largest pain organizations in the world. He served as the Secretary, Vice President between 2002-2005,  President Elect  between 2005-2008, and President of the World Pain Institute between 2008-2011He is a lifelong board member of the World Institute of Pain.

Between 2005-2008, he was the President of the World Institute of Pain Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice Exam Commission. He was the CEO of the World Pain Institute Foundation between 2010-2016.

He was the Member of the World Health Organization Specialization Board on Drug Addiction within the World Health Organization between 2007-2011,2011-2014.

Together with his friends, he established the World Institute of Pain  Turkish Registered Section  in 2018. After the establishment of the World Pain Institute Turkey  Registered Section , six regional and three international meetings were held in our country. Organized since 2018, Interventional Pain Istanbul held its sixth time in 2023. The exams organized by the World Pain Institute in Budapest, Miami, Njemegen, Taiwan have started to be held in  Turkey  since 2019.

World Pain Institute 12. World Pain Congress will be held in Antalya by the World Pain Institute Pain between October 28-30, 2023,  on the 100th anniversary of  the declaratof Turkish Republic in 1923 as well as the 30th Anniversary of the Foundation of the World Institute of Pain in 1993.

 He took part in the editorial boards of international journals such as the European Journal of Pain, Pain Practice, Pain Physician.

 He chaired the following international congresses held in Turkey.

He has been invited to 150 international congresses and 120 national congresses as an invited speaker. prof. Dr. Serdar Erdine is still invited as a speaker to many international and national meetings. He is still the director of the Istanbul Pain Center.

Dr. Deniz Gungormez,Anesthesiologist, MD

 Dr. Deniz Güngörmez was born in 1970 in Kahramanmaraş. He finished primary school in Denizli Gazi Primary School in 1981. He attended Secondary School 1st and 2nd grade Denizli Atatürk Secondary School, Middle 3rd, High School 1st and 2nd grade Rize High School. He graduated from Şehremini High School in 1987. In 1993, I.U. He graduated from Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. He worked in Avcılar Firuzköy and Central Health Center. He received his specialization in Anesthesiology and Reamination from Istanbul Training and Research Hospital in 2005. He worked as a specialist doctor at Yozgat State Hospital. In the same year, he provided polyclinic service with Uz Dr Tayfun Aldemir (clinic chief) in the Algology outpatient clinic of Bezmi Alem Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital. In 2006-2010, Algology instructor at Istanbul Pain Center Prof. He worked with Dr Serdar Erdine. In the same year, he started to work at Bakırköy Dr Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital. In 2011, he transferred to Eyüp State Hospital and established the 2nd Stage Intensive Care Unit. He retired in 2021 after working as an intensive care physician for 10 years. In the Istanbul Agri center, where he worked again, Prof. He started to work as a  director of Istanbul Pain center and specialist in  and Anesthesiology  with Prof. Serdar Erdine.
